KDFWR
Assistant Director, Information and Education Division
Frankfort, KY
KDFWR employs Conservation Educators across the commonwealth. These educators visit students in the 4th-6th grades and present programs on various conservation topics that change annually. Additionally, we offer a conservation camp experience for students in the 4th-6th grades. We work with a non-profit organization, the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation, to provide scholarships so any child who wants to attend conservation camp may do so.

KDFWR operates the Salato Wildlife Education Center in Frankfort, KY. The Salato Center is home to native wildlife species including: a black bear, bison, elk, white-tailed deer, bobcats, turkeys, a bald eagle, many fish species, bees, reptiles and amphibians. The center offers a variety of programs and wildlife encounters and is a popular field-trip destination.

KDFWR offers fishing curriculum for teachers to check-out and use in the classroom. The Backyard Bass kit comes with all the materials students need to try their hand at fishing. We also provide information about fishing close to home. We provide teacher training with a program called Teacher's Tacklebox that gives the teacher all the information they need to take a group of students fishing. The department can provide fishing equipment if you are interested.

KDFWR also has printed resources and downloadable content like activity books, posters, and more.
